Child language acquisitionThis video ‘A child’s guide to language’ is taken from a ‘Horizon’ programme first broadcast in 1983. Some ideas on it are no longer currently held, but it is enough to make the point that the children have internalised the rules of their language and are applying them creatively. Watch this clip and consider the similarities and differences between child language acquisition and second language acquisition. Post your comments in the forum here

Stephen KrashenKrashen takes a lot of criticism regrading his input theories - mostly due to a lack of empirical data. However his theories seem to explain much observable phenomena regarding second language acquisition and as a result many practitioners and the like are comforted by them. So, how relevant do you think his views are today? Post your comments in the forum here. This is primarily aimed at ESOL students but if you are a LITERACY student please feel free to comment too.
